Irvine, California (July 2, 2012) – Morinaga America, Inc., marketing and distribution channel for Hi-Chew in the U.S., is excited to showcase the new Hi-Chew Airstream. Simply put, the Airstream is a mobile hangout. It is fully equipped with a pair of HDTVs, full surround-sound system, plush seating, dual Xboxes and a plethora of video games, iPads, a photo kiosk and enough memorabilia to make any teenager drool. However, even with this underground basement-like feel, the coolest part of this trailer is that it opens up to reveal a full stage where bands can play hits, DJs can drop beats and artists can design masterpieces!
“I wanted something completely new,” said Clayton Perkins, Marketing Manager for Morinaga America. “Repositioning a brand like Hi-Chew requires big ideas and a load of ambition. I knew that we needed to make a sizable investment into the future of the brand. This Airstream is that investment. Luckily it’s a hit!”
The Airstream made its debut at the X Games in Los Angeles in late June. It was packed with kids and adults grabbing handfuls of Hi-Chew and waiting in line for autographs from the biggest stars in action sports, including Danny Way and Ryan Nyquist. “People love this thing,” said Hiroki Nagata, Regional Account Manager for Morinaga America.
Although the Hi-Chew Airstream is cool by itself, it is part of a larger mobile tour that will take place over the next few months. The tour began at the X Games and will make its way hitting all types of events throughout the country, including surf competitions, concerts, motocross events and more. While not at a major event the tour will be chillin’ at local skate parks, recreational hotspots and retail outlets. Social media will play an important role since not everyone will be able to hangout with the tour in person as it progresses across the country. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram will the mainstays for up-to-the-second content.
“It has finally come together. We are now ready to bring Hi-Chew to the masses. We are so excited to see where the Airstream and tour will lead us!” said Toshiya Yasuda, President of Morinaga America.
