Los Angeles, California (July 25, 2011) – Morinaga America, Inc. (www.hi-chew.com), marketing and distribution channel for HI-CHEW in the U.S., will give attendees at the 18th annual Otakon a sampling of its popular fruit chews. The HI-CHEW King will entertain in Booth IND06 and IND07 with samples of the popular fruit chews and pose for photos with HI-CHEW Fruit Chew fans during Otakon on July 29-31.

“HI-CHEW has an enormous fan base among the otaku generation so it makes sense for us to join in celebrating the artistry that defines Asian pop culture,” said Toshiya Yasuda, President of Morinaga America. “The three-day convention is non-stop fun punctuated by top celebrities, premieres of new works, interactive entertainment and hundreds of industry booths featuring the latest products. Otakon, the convention of the otaku generation, is being held on July 29-31, 2011 at the Baltimore Convention Center. In its 18th year, Otakon celebrates all anime, manga and other creativity representing Asian pop culture.

HI-CHEW is gaining widespread popularity in North America as more people experience the fruity, chewy flavors of Strawberry, Green Apple, Melon, Mango, Banana and two new fruit-filled flavors — Grape and Peach.
